Laser Tattoo Removal in Didcot
Leave the tattoo behind you. Keep the story.
Whether your tattoo no longer reflects who you are, has faded over time, or is simply something you’d rather not see every day, laser tattoo removal offers a safe and effective way to gradually fade unwanted ink.
At The Laser Lounge, we use advanced medical-grade laser technology to target tattoo pigment beneath the skin while minimising damage to the surrounding tissue. Your body’s own immune system then naturally flushes away the shattered ink particles over the weeks following each treatment.

Tattoo removal FAQs
How many sessions will I need?
One of the biggest misconceptions is that tattoos disappear after one or two sessions.
The reality is that laser tattoo removal is a journey, not a quick fix.
Most clients require somewhere between 6 and 12 treatments, although some tattoos may need fewer while others can require significantly more.
Every tattoo is unique and results depend on factors including:
- The age of your tattoo
- Ink colours used
- The size of the tattoo
- How heavily the tattoo was applied
- Professional vs amateur tattoo
- Location on the body
- Your skin type
- Your body’s natural healing ability
- Whether the tattoo has been treated before
During your consultation we’ll assess your tattoo and give you an honest estimate based on our experience, but it’s important to understand that no reputable clinic can guarantee an exact number of sessions.
How far apart are the sessions?
Usually 6–8 weeks, sometimes longer. Your body needs that time to clear the ink, and treating too soon doesn’t help.
Will my tattoo disappear completely?
Many tattoos fade a great deal and can be removed extremely successfully, with some disappearing almost completely. However, no clinic can promise complete removal in every case.
Some colours can be more resistant than others, and some tattoos may leave a slight “ghost” image or mild skin texture changes once the ink has gone.
At The Laser Lounge, we’ll always be honest about what we believe is achievable before starting treatment. We believe realistic expectations lead to happier clients.
Do all colours respond the same way?
No. Black and darker inks usually respond more readily, while some colours can be more stubborn and may take longer or fade less. We’ll look at your tattoo at your consultation.
Can you fade a tattoo for a cover-up?
Yes. Fading a tattoo so it can be covered is a common reason people come to us, and it usually takes 2–4 sessions. Each session costs the same as any other. Speak to your tattoo artist about how much fading they would like.
What happens at the consultation and patch test?
We look at your tattoo, talk through your skin, health and goals, do a patch test and agree a treatment plan. There’s a £30 deposit, which is taken off the cost of your first treatment.
What aftercare will I need?
We’ll give you full written advice. In general: keep the area clean, don’t pick scabs or blisters, avoid sun exposure and use SPF on the area, and avoid anything that irritates the skin while it heals. Redness, mild swelling and tenderness are normal for a few hours to a few days.
Where are you based, and do you see clients from outside Didcot?
We’re at Great Western Park, Didcot, Oxfordshire, and we welcome clients from Abingdon, Wantage, Wallingford, Oxford and the surrounding villages. We’re open by appointment only, so please book online or call 01235 355595.
How does laser tattoo removal work?
Different tattoo inks absorb different wavelengths of light. Our advanced laser delivers multiple wavelengths, allowing us to effectively target a wide range of black, blue, red and other coloured inks.
Each pulse of the laser breaks the ink into microscopic particles. Over the following weeks, your body gradually removes these particles through its natural healing process, meaning your tattoo becomes lighter after every session.
Because the body needs time to clear the ink, treatments are normally spaced around 6-8 weeks apart, sometimes longer depending on the tattoo and your skin.
What should I expect during treatment?
Treatment is relatively quick, with many sessions taking just a few minutes.
Most clients describe the sensation as similar to an elastic band snapping against the skin. It can be uncomfortable, but the treatment is usually very well tolerated. Everyone’s pain tolerance is different, so tell us how you’re feeling and we’ll go at your pace.
Immediately afterwards you may experience:
- Redness
- Mild swelling
- Frosting (a temporary whitening of the tattoo)
- Tenderness similar to mild sunburn
These reactions are completely normal and usually settle within a few hours to a few days.
We’ll provide full aftercare advice to help your skin heal properly and achieve the best possible results.
How quickly will I see results?
This is probably the most important thing we tell every client.
The laser doesn’t remove the tattoo instantly.
Instead, each treatment starts your body’s natural removal process, meaning you’ll continue to see fading for several weeks after every appointment.
Being patient between sessions often leads to better long-term results than treating too frequently.
Our goal isn’t simply to remove ink as quickly as possible—it’s to achieve the safest, healthiest outcome for your skin.
